Professional Expertise
As Senior Vice President of Development and Project Management at JM Zell, Mike overseas the construction and development activities for our owned project's as well as our large-scale client engagements. In this capacity Mike is responsible for leading design management, pre-construction/coordination, project budgeting and scheduling, contract negotiation, and owner's representation/ management from project inception through delivery.
Mike brings over 40 years' experience in general contracting, project management, and development in multiple US cities and internationally. His projects have ranged from skyscrapers in Houston to hotels in the Florida Keys, war recovery work in Kuwait, the first high-rises in Dubai, and more skyscrapers in Seoul South Korea.
Just prior to joining JM Zell, Mike led the construction management team at a major international development firm in Washington for 16 years, where he successfully oversaw the design, construction management, and delivery of City CenterDC, a 2 million square foot mixed use project located in the East End neighborhood of Washington D.C., which includes luxury retail, office, hotel, and multi-family condo buildings.
Mike has extensive experience in overseeing the delivery of large-scale, high-rise, construction projects and deep expertise in design management, project budgeting, critical path scheduling, and contract negotiation. Mike is also LEED certified.
Mike is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and as a Marine officer was deployed to multiple foreign and national locations including Japan, San Diego, and North Carolina. As an Engineer officer, Mike participated and led tactical and construction projects across East Asia, Northern Europe, and the Mediterranean Sea area.
